foto-homeFedor Ballakh – is one of the most prominent contemporary sculptors working with wood. His main feature is the constant “CREATIVE RESEARCH” in the broadest sense of the word.

The sculptor is constantly experimenting with new materials from flexible basswood (lime tree) to the super-hard lignum vitae. He works with a variety of textures and shapes from Karelian birch to the intricate burl. The subjects of his compositions are an endless source of imagination: nature, animals, still life, circus, myths, illustrations for fairy tales, verses and poems. He is also not afraid to raise difficult questions of religious, social and moral nature.

Each Fedor Ballakh’s sculpture is filled with deep meaning and carries some important spiritual message from the author.
